MATTEO TRENTIN

Oboe & English Horn

CURRICULUM

Born in Rovigo (Italy) in 1980, after a diploma obtained with first class honours at Rovigo Conservatory under the guidance of Fabrizio Oriani, he perfected oneself in oboe with Luca Vignali and in chamber music with Alessandro Specchi. In 1997 he has held the position of 1st oboe in Edinburgh Youth Orchestra. In 1998 he won the 1st prize in Portogruaro’s Festival chamber music contest and the 2nd prize in 1999 in the same contest. (1st prize not assigned)
In 2002 and 2003 he steadily plays with Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano G. Verdi 
conducted by Riccardo Chailly. As principal oboe he collaborates with some of the most prestigious european Orchestras including Gewandhausochester Leipzig, Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala, Orchestra dell’accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, playing worldwide, (Avery Fisher Hall of New York, Symphony Hall of Chicago, Auditorio Nacional of Madrid, Wien Musikverein, Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires, Municipal Theatre of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo Hall, Suntory Hall and NHK Hall of Tokyo, Minato Mirai Hall of Yokohama, Symphony Hall of Osaka…) with conductors and soloists such as Zubin Mehta, Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Muti, Riccardo Chailly, George Prệtre, Mstislav Rostropovich, Eliahu Inbal, Raphael Fruhbeck De Burgos, Rudolf Barshai, Marta Argerich, Vadim Repin, Yuri Bashmet, Lynn Harrell, Jean Yves Thibaudet, Mario Brunello, Enrico Dindo, Christopher Hogwood, Boris Belkin.
From 2004 to 2012 he is a steady member of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta.
In 2012 he won the audition for principal oboe, both in Teatro Regio di Torino and in Teatro Comunale di Bologna where he plays from 2013 to 2018.
Since 2019 he steadily holds the position of Hautbois Solo in the Orchestre de
l’Opéra National de Lyon.
